Why are there generally no wars between democratic countries, while the final resolution of conflicts with authoritarian countries usually can only rely on war?

 Why is there a saying that democracies don't fight wars? Because when democracies attack each other, the measures they take impact their citizens. If people's lives are affected, they influence elections through their votes, leading to policy adjustments in the opposing democracies. However, when problems arise between authoritarian states, or between an authoritarian state and a democratic state, war is often the only solution. When hostile states attack each other, the people of the authoritarian state bear the consequences and are unable to express their opinions, but the leaders and ruling elite of the authoritarian state remain unaffected. Consequently, authoritarian policies often fail to correct errors or stop losses, forcing them to continue on a downward spiral. When conflicts between an authoritarian state and its hostile state build to a breaking point, war becomes the only solution. This logic confirms the failure of President Trump's policies toward the People's Republic of China, and especially Russia.
